Tube Map Walks: Tramlink

Tube Map Walks: Tramlink

London Tramlink began life as Croydon Tramlink in May 2000, the first tram system in London since 1959. It has 39 stops along 17 miles (28km) of track which is a mixture of shared street, dedicated and off-street. There are four lines which converge in central Croydon with the eastbound lines terminate at Beckenham Junction, Elmers End and New Addington, whilst the westbound line terminates at Wimbledon.

Today's walk followed the tram lines from Wimbledon through central Croydon to New Addington. A ride on the tram back to Sandilands then started the second part of the walk to Beckenham Junction, taking in Elmers End.

But why a tram line walk I hear you ask? Well last year I did a series of walks where I visited every station on the then current Tube Map (May 2015). This month TfL issued a new map which, you guessed it, includes the Tramlink system - so off I went out again ticking off the stations as I went along...

Distance: around 19 miles (walking).
