Tube Map Walks: Metropolitan
Bit of a slow month, walk wise, but today I managed to get out and walk the north west section of the Metropolitan line. Starting in Chesham, I walked down to Amersham, along the line taking in the Watford branch, detoured to West Harrow, and finished in Wembley Park.
In 1863 the Metropolitan Railway began the world's first underground railway between Paddington and Farringdon Street with wooden carriages and steam locomotives. It's most important route became the line north, into the Middlesex countryside, where it stimulated the development of new suburbs.
Distance: around 27.5 miles.
