S’more Macarons

What better way to celebrate New Year’s Day than a friendly neighbourhood macaronoff! We couldn’t resist a little competition when our friends at Derbyshire Crofter decided that a New Year’s Day buffet wouldn’t be complete without a plethora of macarons whipped up by their respective visitors…

With memories of autumn bonfires still fresh in our minds we created these ‘S’more’ Macarons. We started with a simple Martha Stewart recipe for a Basic French Macaron, using Sugar and Crumbs natural flavoured Toasted Marshmallow icing sugar. We filled our golden marshmallow shells with a marshmallow and chocolate buttercream filling and topped the macarons with a drizzle of dark chocolate and a piece of rich tea biscuit (a great alternative to the classic Graham cracker.

The result? Sweet toasty goodness and a respectable 2nd place behind some awesome chocolate and raspberry macarons with sparkly red shells!
