Rodney's 3rd Birthday
Today our gorgeous little chap turned three years old, at least that’s the best guesstimate anyone has! Rodney, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross (Whippet? Lurcher?), came into our lives in January 2018 by way of the fantastic Dogs Trust in Loughborough.
A rescue dog with an potted history, Rodney is not an easy, off the shelf, plug and play type dog. He’s a challenging and complex dog that requires a lot of supervision and tuition but… he’s also the most loving, soppy, cuddly, warm, energetic, waggy and all round beautiful dog we could ever hope for. Loveable and infuriating in equal measure? If that’s not the definition of family then we don’t know what is!
So, what do you give a food orientated dog for his birthday? That’s right, cake and beer and crunchy treats, all perfectly dog friendly of course.
For the cake we found this fantastic recipe from The Cozy Cook. Wholewheat flour, carrot, peanut butter and honey, all bound together with egg. Because Rodney is such a fan of his veg we also added some sweet green garden peas. The ‘frosting’ is a simple mix of peanut butter and natural yoghurt.
The beer (Subwoofer!) and treats have come courtesy of Brewdog (how apt!) and were wolfed down in record time.
