Richly Spiced Plum Chutney
This 'proper' chutney is a real winter warmer. Suggested as an accompaniment to cold cuts, we rather think this a superb alternative to a mango chutney and would go brilliantly with a curry. We substituted dates in place of raisins and, owing to a store cupboard oversight, used nigella (or black onion) seeds and yellow mustard seeds in place of the suggested black mustard seeds. The result is heady, fragrant and punchy. Perfect with a poppadom and a beer or two.
