A Nobbly Creation
For this week's #TwitterBakeAlong, hosted by The Baking Nanna and Rob Allen, we had the choice of celebrating three events in the foodie calendar - Cupcake Lovers Day, Strawberry Shortcake Day, and National Picnic Week. We decided to take inspiration from one of our favourite chocolate bars, the Picnic, and turn it into a cupcake.
The Cadbury Picnic bar was first released in the UK in 1958 and is "a nobbly creation of crispy wafer, chewy caramel, crunchy peanuts and juicy raisins, all contained in a layer of Cadbury milk chocolate!"
For the cake element we went with Mary Berry's chocolate cupcakes via Baking Mad. Just before the cakes went into the oven we pushed a chunk of Tunnock's Caramel Wafer into the centre as a surprise filling. Once cooled the cupcakes were finished with a simple vanilla buttercream and sprinkled with peanuts, raisins and chocolate buttons.
