Magic Rock Tap Takeover: Cirque Brutale
Sunday saw us ‘rolling up’ to the ‘big top’ at The Understudy (at the National Theatre in London’s South Bank) for another Magic Rock tap takeover, a.k.a. “Cirque Brutale”. With zombie barmen and gothic horror inspired ringleaders, this takeover in the brutalist concrete surroundings of the NT’s underbelly was right our street.
Whilst the Understudy has a fair few taps, we'd been lucky enough to sample quite a few of Magic Rock's range, so there were no 'brutale' hangovers after these five offerings:
'Simpleton', a simple 3% IPA kicked things off before stepping up to the 'High Wire' (Grapefruit) with a fruity, zingy American Pale. 'Contortionist' (Berliner Weisse) sour made our faces squish and there was no let up from the kettle-aged sour wheat, 'The Upside Down'.
We rounded things off with 'The Big Top', a massive imperial red ale, confirmation indeed that Magic Rock are no clowns!
