Magic Rock Brewery Tour and Tap Room
What better thing to do when it’s pouring with rain than make a short pilgrimage to one of the UK’s best (and one of our absolute favourite) breweries for a well-informed tour and plenty of taproom action. Magic Rock Brewing “started the brewery in 2011 in an old out-building of the family business (an importer of crystals and natural gifts) in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire” and they’ve been blazing a trail on the UK and international beer scene ever since.
With their eye-catching designs and cheeky names (mostly circus themed) the brewery currently has a 120,000 litre brew kit (expanding to 150,000 litres in the very near future) and a canning line capable of turning out 15,000 cans of perfectly produced beer every single hour. Despite over 40% of their beer destined for the discerning palettes of the international market, there’s plenty of beer left for the home market. From core, low ABV favourites such as High Wire Grapefruit and Saucery, to big and bold heavyweights such as Strongman and Bearded Lady.
Unsurprisingly we’ve had rather a lot of Magic Rock’s offerings but still managed to enjoy a few new brews from their wonderful taproom (the joys of third pints): Cannonball (American IPA), Driftwood (Session IPA - collaboration with Fourpure), Grower Owned (American IPA), Promised Land (German Pilsner), Hat-Trick (English Bitter), Hat-Trick Blonde (Blonde), and Liquid Piracy (Double/Imperial Porter).
