London 2 Cambridge Challenge
Back in May I, along with two work colleagues, attempted the London 2 Brighton Challenge for London's Air Ambulance. Due to a team member being injured we unfortunately only reached the half-way point (around 57km) but we did manage to raise just over £900 which was fantastic. Although it was tough I rather enjoyed the challenge, so much so that the day after I was back on the website looking to see what other challenges they had and I ended up signing up for today's walk - the London 2 Cambridge Challenge.
It was the second time Ultra Challenge has run this event and will be the last time for a while. The challenge started at Hackney Marshes and was a route of three sections - the first third followed the River Lea, second third went through the fields of Hertfordshire and the last third went through towns and villages before entering Cambridge.
t was really well organised and around 1000 people took part. The helpers at the rest stops were all great and encouraging. There were a few moments where it was tough going, but it wouldn't be a challenge if it was easy! I was aiming to complete it within 24hrs but to my surprise I managed it in just under 19 hours which was great.
Distance: around 62 miles.
