Home Brew - Australian Pale Ale (Ella Hops)

We’ve brewed, we’ve bottled and now it’s time to drink!

Just over four weeks ago we set about brewing our first beer using a brilliant kit from Claire at Home Brewtique. As brewing novices we found the process simple to follow and enjoyed the delicious sweet smell of wort that filled the kitchen. Bottling was nerve-wracking but fairly straight forward and we were starting to get a feel for the finished product. Now, after a 24-48 hour ‘cold crash’ we were finally able to pop the lid and drink.

A gentle hiss reassured us that our dextrose addition was spot on and we’d generated some gentle carbonation. The beer poured a deep amber with a light head and nothing suggested it had spoilt…

Wow! Properly tasty hoppy beer, produced at home in our kitchen with the potential to tweak to our own taste. What a worthwhile experience.

Cheers!
