The Texas Gingerbread Massacre !!!
To celebrate All Hallow's Eve we thought we'd get in the mood by baking some terrifying treats, and we've chosen gingerbread. It's a popular winter warmer of a biscuit lends itself to many a seasonal theme.
Making biscuits is normally a great choice for a quick and easy post-work bake, but this particular recipe from The Hummingbird Bakery requires an overnight rest for the dough, so you need to plan in advance.
Once rested and rolled it's time to cut out your victims! You can use a shop bought cookie cutter or get creative with a knife and make your own freehand shapes and designs... Pumpkins? Ghosts? Witches hats? Bake for 10-15 minutes then leave to cool on a wire rack.
We've used Royal icing to make our creepy creations, but they're just as tasty when left plain and simple and the finished biscuits will keep for 2-3 weeks if stored in an airtight container.
