Derbyshire Fruit Loaf

Another week and another #TwitterBakeAlong which is back with The Great British Bake Off and it's return for Stand Up To Cancer

'Brought to you by Cancer Research UK and Channel 4, Stand Up To Cancer is an annual fundraising campaign that brings the UK together to accelerate progress in life-saving cancer research. Stand Up To Cancer takes developments in the labs and accelerates them into brand new tests and treatments for cancer patients who need them right now. Originating in the USA, Stand Up To Cancer launched in the UK in 2012 backed by a host of celebrities, all intent on showing cancer who’s boss.'

This week The Baking Nanna and Robert Allen have tasked us with making any of the three bakes featured in Ep. 3 of Stand Up To Cancer's Bake Off; the 'signature' (loaf cake), the 'technical' (biscuits) or the 'showstopper' (meringue).

As we've recently moved from the big smoke (London) to Derbyshire, we thought this was the perfect opportunity to try a local classic and found this recipe for Derbyshire fruit loaf. It's packed with tea soaked fruits and the relatively dry finish is perfect with a cuppa or even toasted with butter!
