Once They're Scone, They're Gone...

Cherry Scones

Number three for our Gents afternoon tea for #TwitterBakeAlong is another English classic, the scone. Taking inspiration from our boozy cherry trifle we decided to liven up this recipe from Mary Berry with some cheeky red glacé cherries. Make sure you wash and dry them before adding them to you dough as the sticky syrup is not a good mix and any exposed fruit can burn. Whilst they bake it's time to argue over how to pronounce scone. Once that's out the way and their risen and golden you can argue again about the order of the filling. Is it jam first or cream first?! To be honest we really don't care, so long as it all end with a scone in your gob. Enjoy!
