Brew York at Maison Du Biere
Last night saw us brave the snow for a short drive over to the market town of Ashbourne, the ‘Gateway for Dovedale’, for a Brew York tap takeover at Maison Du Biere. This was our first visit to Maison Du Biere and we were not disappointed. There’s a fantastically diverse range of traditional and modern beers from around the world, far more than many of our local bottle shops, but the biggest surprise was the good sized vaulted seating area next to the all important taps. This old coach house has a warm and inviting atmosphere and the folks behind the bar were friendly, knowledgeable and fun.
So, to the beer…
We have to confess that we’d sampled very few of Brew York’s delights, with just two or three beer checked off in the past. So we hit the taps and sampled six excellent offerings: Galaga (American Pale Ale), Nuba (New England IPA), Milky Milky (Milkshake IPA), Kaya (Milk Stout - a collaboration brew with Gweilo Brewing), Tonkoko (Milk Stout) and Imperial Tonkoko (Imperial Milk Stout). From bright and fruity, through dank and hoppy, all the way down to sweet toasted coconut and coffee.
A fantastic tap takeover in a fantastic bottle shop and tap room.
